The British Council has also produced a guide to sources of funding with the Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). This leaflet can also be downloaded from the British Council website.

Please note:
•    Not all the awards listed will be available to you.
•    There is no funding available from the British Council in the UK for international students.
•    It is very rare that funding is awarded for undergraduate study in the UK.
To apply for British Council funding you should apply to the office in your home country as a resident of that country. The address of our offices in your home country can be found at: http://www.britishcouncil.org/home-contact-worldwide.htm

The British Council global address list links to the home pages of each country where the British Council has offices. These home pages often have a funding section that contains details of the possible funding schemes available to you. If you can't find this information please contact the office in your home country for further advice.

If the British Council does not have an office in your home country, you are not eligible for British Council funding. You should contact the British Embassy or High Commission in your country as they may be able to help you further. You can find contact details the official website of the British Embassy.

Unfortunately, the British Council does not offer funding to British nationals or British residents who want to study in the United Kingdom or overseas. But there are many other websites, which may help you find other funding opportunities.

Association of Commonwealth Universities

The university or college, which you are applying to, may be able to advise you about possible funding opportunities for their courses. We suggest you contact the Admissions Officer at the institution directly. Contact details of all UK further education (FE) institutions and universities are available on the British Council - Education UK website. You will also find useful information about Higher Education in the UK on this website, including a database where you can search online for all courses available.
