Bryson Charitable Group was originally established in 1906 with a remit to meet gaps in social need. Over the years the organization has grown and developed with the changing needs in Belfast and Northern Ireland society. It has now grown to a encompass a wide range of activity, including social care activities to support vulnerable individuals, families and communities and activities with a broad-based aim of environmental protection and improvement. Volunteering has always been key in the organization and we have had many volunteering programmes over the years. As well as Bryson EVS, we currently have volunteers involved in the governance of the organisation and in community based support in the North Down and Ards region. Bryson Charitable Group has been involved in the EVS programme since 1997 and has worked with over 300 EVS volunteers, including volunteers with disabilities and fewer opportunities on long-term placements. It is currently the Co-ordinating Organisation for 9 local (Northern Ireland) organisations, including youth, arts and environmental organisations. Two new organisations have come on board for 2017 and Bryson EVS continues to work to promote EVS to other organisations. We are also currently the EVS training organisation for Northern Ireland.
