On 14th September, the European Parliament adopted a Resolution on the future of the Erasmus+ programme, acknowledging the extremely positive impact the programme has had on the personal and professional lives of more than 9 000 000 participants.

The European Commission has launched the trial version of a new tool to support schools in using digital technologies: 600 schools from 14 countries have the opportunity to try the new 'SELFIE' tool in this pilot phase, before it is finalised and made available to interested schools in Europe in early 2018.

The Eurodesk position paper welcomes the European Solidarity Corps as an ambitious programme that aims to allow more opportunities for young people. However, Eurodesk is concerned about making sure all young people are informed about the opportunities offered and that they can benefit from quality placements (with measures before, during and after the mobility).

The European Parliament has launched a call for contributors for the European Youth Event (EYE), taking place from 1st to 2nd June 2018 at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France. EYE 2018 will include a large variety of activities run under the motto "Together we can make a change" in a political, social and cultural sense.

Eurodesk, together with the European Youth Forum and the Lifelong Learning Platform, has launched a joint campaign calling for a tenfold budget increase of the Erasmus+ programme in the context of the Multiannual Financial Framework negotiations for 2021-2028.

The European Commission is pre-financing seven pilot projects that offer long-term apprenticeships abroad. The aim of these projects is to test experiment placements of at least 6 months, in an effort to promote apprenticeships abroad of a longer duration.

The United Nations system- the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the International Training Centre (ITC), the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO)- launched a campaign under the aegis of the Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth on the occasion of Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises International Day, held on the 27th of June 2017.
